IPEC Releases Updated Version of the Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice
Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) is pleased to announce the release of the IPEC Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice: Version 3. First published in 2011 and updated in 2016, the IPEC competencies have become an indispensable resource to advance interprofessional education for collaborative practice (IPECP). Key drivers shaping the 2023 version included the need to integrate perspectives from seven new IPEC member organizations and a desire to reflect contemporary research, policy, education, and practice realities. View full news release here.

IPEC is beginning a formal process to review and revise the 2016 IPEC Core Competencies. The IPEC Core Competencies have helped to frame the national dialogue on the need for interprofessional education (IPE) and collaborative practice (CP) as a catalyst for improving team-based patient care and enhancing population health outcomes. The Core Competencies Working Group comprises a panel of IPE and CP leaders and experts from across the nation, representing over 200 years of combined experience. View full news release and list of members here.

The Interprofessional Leadership Development Program (ILDP) convened at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Learning Center in Washington, D.C. on February 6-8, 2019. Six Leading Health Education Associations Unite to Form a New Organization Focused on Interprofessional Education and Practice

Six national health professions associations have formally joined to create the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC), a new national organization that will focus on better integrating and coordinating the education of nurses, physicians, dentists, pharmacists, public health professionals, and other members of the patient health care team to provide more collaborative and patient-centered care. The founding members include the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American Dental Education Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges, and the Association of Schools of Public Health. View full news release here.
