IPE Collaboration Award Call for Applications

Applications will open soon for the IPEC COF Excellence in Interprofessional Education Collaboration Award.

This annual award recognizes interprofessional teams whose collaborative work has made a meaningful impact on community health, health knowledge, awareness, and behavior.

IPEC and the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health (COF) invite eligible institutions to submit innovative projects that demonstrate excellence in interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

Who Should Apply

Applications are encouraged from teams representing the broad range of IPEC member institutions, including public and private institutions, large and small programs, and dedicated IPE centers.

Eligible submissions must:

  • Be submitted through a Health Professions School Dean or designated IPE/IPP center
  • Include collaborators from two or more health professions
  • Demonstrate a clear relationship between interprofessional practice, outcomes, and community impact
  • Align with the IPEC Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice

Projects previously submitted but not selected may be resubmitted with a new application.

What to Submit

A complete application includes:

  • Signed application checklist
  • Cover sheet with a brief project description
  • Two-page narrative describing the project and documenting impact
  • Abbreviated Principal Investigator CV (6 pages or fewer)
  • Outline of collaborator roles
  • Letter of support from the Dean or IPE center leader

Optional supplemental materials may include:

  • Photos
  • Slide presentation (12 slides or fewer)
  • Short video

References and supplemental materials do not count toward the two-page narrative limit.

Review & Selection

Applications are reviewed by the joint IPEC COF Award Review Committee and approved by COF leadership and the IPEC Board of Directors.

Reviewers consider:

  • Significance of the topic or public health need
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Organization and clarity
  • Evidence of measurable outcomes
  • Interprofessional collaboration across disciplines
  • Community impact

Important Dates

Applications Open: August 3, 2026
Applications Close: February 1, 2027
Notification of Awardees: March 30, 2027
