Together, let’s set the stage for a collaborative and insightful exchange of ideas focused on advancing health professions education and interprofessional collaborative practice. 11:10 AM - 11:55 PM ET OPENING PLENARY • Building Stronger Interprofessional Teams with CBE and IPE Lisa Howley, PhD, MEd, Senior Director for Transforming Medical Education, Association of American Medical Colleges This opening session will explore how competency-based education (CBE) integrates with interprofessional education for collaborative practice (IPECP) to enhance teamwork, coordination, and communication among teams. Participants will learn how CBE supports skill development and improves outcomes for teams, patients, and communities, with practical frameworks and real-world examples, including Van Melle’s model. Learning Objectives: 11:55 - 12:00 PM ET INNOVATION BOOST • 5-Minute Break 12:00 - 1:00 PM ET KEYNOTE ADDRESS • Transforming Health Professions Education through Competency-Based Learning and Interprofessional Collaboration Jacquelyn McMillian-Bohler, PhD, RN, CNE, CNM, Director, Institute for Educational Excellence and Assistant Professor, School of Nursing, Duke University This keynote presentation will introduce you to the principles of CBE and IPECP, focusing on how these approaches can be used to design curricula that enhance collaboration among teams. Participants will engage in practical activities to create clear and measurable IPE competencies, with guidance from faculty coaches to help refine their designs for real-world application in various settings. We will also walk through the structure of office hours with speakers and staff, offering insights on how to leverage this time for valuable feedback. This session will provide you with practical insights and strategies to kickstart or refine your curriculum planning, audience targeting, and resource identification. Whether you're new to IPE or looking to align it more closely with CBE principles, we’ve got you covered! Learning Objectives: 1:55 - 2:00 PM ET INNOVATION BOOST • 5-Minute Break 2:00 - 2:20 PM ET SPOTLIGHT • Breaking Barriers and Igniting a Movement to Advance IPECP Lisa A. Benz Scott, PhD, Executive Director and Professor, Program in Public Health, Founding Director, Stony Brook Medicine Health Libraries Program (HeLP), Stony Brook University Implementing IPE in smaller institutions with limited resources presents unique challenges. This fast-paced spotlight session will explore practical, cost-effective strategies for integrating IPE into existing programs, emphasizing the importance of collaborative practice in enhancing patient care. Learning Objectives: 2:20 - 2:30 PM ET INSTITUTE INSIGHTS • Setting the Stage for Our Cohort Activity Mark Speicher, PhD, MHA / Lisa Howley, PhD, MEd Before the cohort activity, we will introduce the networking breakout session, explaining the format and objectives for small group discussions focused on your CBE and IPECP initiatives, where you'll share insights, tackle challenges, and collaborate on strategies. We’ll also provide details about this special cohort, including who is attending and participating in the institute, and highlight shared issues and goals to guide your discussions. 2:30 - 3:15 PM ET COHORT ACTIVITY • Building Your CBE Roadmap for IPECP Success Mark Speicher, PhD, MHA / Lisa Howley, PhD, MEd Join colleagues and IPEC leaders in this interactive cohort activity, where you’ll review progress on your CBE and IPECP initiatives and share insights on project planning. This session will focus on identifying key lessons, addressing questions, and collaborating on strategies for successfully advancing IPECP. Together, we will build pathways for the continued development and implementation of CBE in interprofessional settings. Learning Objectives: 3:15 - 3:25 PM ET AFTERNOON DEBRIEF • Daily Summary and Assessment Mark Speicher, PhD, MHA / Lisa Howley, PhD, MEd 3:25 - 4:10 PM ET TEAM MEETING/STRATEGY SESSION #1 • Planning Join your teammates in a virtual room to develop and enhance your curricular project plan. IPEC leaders will be available to answer questions and enter the room as needed for coaching. Learning Objectives: 4:10 - 5:00 PM ET POST-CONFERENCE VIRTUAL ROOM • Optional Collaboration Hour Although the conference has officially concluded for the day and our staff and speakers are no longer available, we’re keeping the Zoom rooms open for the next hour. This is your opportunity to continue working on your IPECP projects with your colleagues or engage in casual conversations before signing off for the evening.
